Local Artist Selected for Gig Harbor Garden Tour Poster and Publicity
Jeanne Anderson, a local watercolorist and member of the Peninsula Art League, has been selected as the 2026 featured artist for the Gig Harbor Garden Tour. Her painting “Daisies” will be the featured image on the annual publicity poster and brochure which also serves as the ticket into the gardens.
“Our artist selection committee loved her daisies; they are such a summer flower and so fresh,” said Jan Reeder, President of the Gig Harbor Garden Tour. “The work perfectly reflects all that is spectacular about our northwest gardens in summer.”
Anderson began her watercolor journey in 1998 as a young mother seeking outside diversions from raising her three very young children. She began studying and regularly taking classes, rising to be one of the better recognized watercolorists in the area. While she primarily specializes in florals, she also paints landscapes, portraits, and abstracts. Recognizing the difficulty of the watercolors is what attracts her. “The challenge to control this ‘unpredictable’ medium while embracing its fickleness keeps me coming back to it. The transparency and layering of hues is mesmerizing,” she explains.
In addition to painting and exhibiting her work she teaches regularly watercolor to adults in her Gig Harbor studio.
This year, the competition was particularly competitive with artists applying for the coveted selection from as far as Seattle and the greater Puget Sound Region.
